WORLD MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

Mental Health Awareness Week is an important opportunity for the college to raise awareness about wellbeing and encourage people to look after themselves and others. At the Sacred Heart Language College, year 10 work together to help all students understand the importance of speaking about their feelings, managing stress, and supporting friends who may be struggling. Our mental health affects how we think, feel, and act, so taking care of it is just as important as taking care of our physical health.
At Sacred Heart Language College, Mental Health Awareness Week had a very positive impact on all students. As a student leadership team, we organised a range of activities to give opportunities to reflect on our mental health and to help everyone feel more relaxed, connected, and supported. Students found activities such as bracelet making, UNO and mindfulness colouring a really good opportunity to take a break from school pressure, socialise with others, and learn healthy ways to manage emotions and stress.
One of the most enjoyable activities was the Just Dance Power Up Sessions, where students could dance, exercise, and have fun together. These sessions helped boost energy levels, reduce stress, and encourage confidence and teamwork.
Overall, Mental Health Week created a supportive atmosphere in school, and it also reminded everyone that mental health matters to everyone, every day.
