The Sacred Heart Language College

Year 3 african music & dance masterclass

Sacred Heart welcomed 25 year 3 pupils from across the borough to participate in an African music day. The pupils brought with them to Sacred Heart some masks, posters and head-dresses that they had made to show us what elements of African life they had been learning about at their junior schools. The pupils were taught an African Dance by Sacred Heart year 9 girls and then experienced playing some massed African drumming. After their lunches their parents were invited into school to a performance of the dance and drumming. An educational and enjoyable day was had by all and we look forward to welcoming some of these children in a few years time to Sacred Heart as year 7 pupils.

An enormous thanks to our year 9 dance teachers – Adedoyin Adeyanju, Christine Abdulkareem, Holly Moore, Ella O’Sullivan, Mary-Kate Padian.
