CARE FOR GOD'S CREATION - YEAR 7 ASSEMBLY

Wednesday 28th January 2026
This week, 7A led a thoughtful and inspiring assembly on Care for God’s Creation, one of the key principles of Catholic Social Teaching. The pupils reminded us that the world is a precious gift from God and that we are called to be stewards of the Earth – to protect it, nurture it, and ensure it remains a safe and beautiful home for everyone.
Throughout the assembly, students reflected on the message from Genesis 2:15, where God entrusts humanity with the responsibility to “work and take care” of the world. They explored how caring for creation is not only about looking after nature, but also about treating each other with dignity, respect, and kindness, recognising that every person is made in the image and likeness of God.
The pupils shared powerful images showing the impact of pollution and waste, encouraging everyone to pause and reflect on how human actions affect the planet. They also highlighted the positive work carried out by organisations such as CAFOD, who support communities across the world in living sustainably and protecting the environment.
As part of the assembly, 7A reminded us of simple but meaningful actions we can take each day: reducing waste, recycling properly, walking instead of driving, and avoiding littering. These small steps help us to live out the message of Pope Francis in Laudato Si’, where he calls us to care for “our common home” and take responsibility for the world we share.
The assembly concluded with a prayer, asking God to help us become caretakers of His creation and to guide us in building a future rooted in justice, peace, and hope.
