'The Chattertocks'-Brown University

Monday 12th January 2026
On Monday 12th January 2026 we were honoured to welcome “The Chattertocks”, an acapella vocal ensemble from Brown University in Rhode Island, USA. The group consisted of first, second and third year female students studying a wealth of different subjects but all with a love of music and performing as part of an ensemble.
They started their visit with vocal workshops for our pupils who are members of the Concert Choir and all of the GCSE Music students. They began with vocal warm-ups before teaching the girls an acapella version of “Shadows of the Night” by Pat Benatar. At lunchtime “The Chattertocks” performed some songs from their repertoire to a packed college hall before inviting our pupils to join with them to sing the piece they had rehearsed.
Following the short concert there was an opportunity for our pupils to ask questions to the ladies from “The Chattertocks” and collect autographs!
It was such a pleasure to see them working with our pupils and inspiring all of them to hopefully continue with their love of music making in the future. Hopefully they will return again to inspire and engage many more of our pupils.
Mr D Starling – Head of Music

I very much enjoyed The Chattertocks coming to TSHLC as they were such an inspiration to me and many others. They were all so kind, and they lit up the room with joy and passion and their overall personalities. The workshop was so much fun and has inspired me in many ways, in the context of music but also performing and speaking in front of others, stepping outside my comfort zone and trying new things. All the girls were so lovely and were amazing at acapella singing. I’m very grateful for the opportunity of getting to meet and work with them as I believe this will truly help me in the future with performing and giving things a go.
