Talk about Transition Day - By The Jack Petchey Foundation

11th November 2025

Last month I took part in a half-day oracy workshop led by a speaker from the Jack Petchey Foundation.  This involved taking part in group and paired work which allowed us to discuss and present our views on opportunities and challenges faced before, during and after transitioning to secondary school.

We all found the session, which was led by an inspirational speaker, really helpful.  The session was aimed at helping us with both our confidence and our public speaking. I learnt many things during the session, such as using confident language, how to control my voice, as well as using different confident postures whilst talking. I was able to learn about different people’s qualities as well as have an opportunity to reflect on my own.

Taking part in this workshop was really useful as I can see it helping me in many situations in the future, from class presentations to interviews to perhaps even performing on this stage. The biggest message I took from that session was just be yourself!    Lucy 7E.
