BRITISH SCIENCE WEEK

6th-15th March 2026

British Science Week: A Celebration of Curiosity!

The Science Department enjoyed a fantastic British Science Week filled with creativity, discovery, and plenty of curious questions! This year’s theme, “Curiosity – What’s Your Question?”, inspired our Year 7 and 8 pupils to investigate a science-related question of their choice and present their findings to the class.

Pupils explored an impressive range of fascinating topics, from “Why do we dream?” to “What causes brain freeze when we eat ice cream?” Teachers were extremely impressed by the quality of the research and presentations. Congratulations to all the winning groups who received official British Science Week certificates for their outstanding work!

Meanwhile, Year 9 pupils took on the challenge of designing and presenting their own DNA models. A big well done to Clara (9E), Mia (9H), and Natalia (9T) for creating exceptional models. These were proudly showcased to Year 7 pupils during Science Club, where the younger students then had the exciting opportunity to extract DNA from strawberries. Seeing real DNA was a highlight for many and created a real buzz of excitement!

Well done to all involved for making British Science Week such a memorable celebration of curiosity and science learning.
