International Women's Day

Friday 6th March
International Women’s Day
On Friday the 6th of March, we celebrated International Women’s Day. The theme of this year was "Give to Gain" therefore Mrs Thenuwara organised an array of inspirational and gifted women to come and inform our students on careers and opportunities for the future. The guest speakers consisted of the Mayor of Harrow (Anjana Patel), who spoke of her struggles as the first Tanzanian-Indian Hindu Mayor, Dipa Patel the group head of tax for international tax, Trini Evans a lecturer in construction, Katie O'Brien the company secretary in fund management, Jane Riley a NHS paramedic, Jo O'Connor an NHS Matron and finally Sr Rose Mary Harbinson, RNDM from the sisters of our lady of the missions.
These women's stories empowered and intrigued our girls. Hearing about the obstacles they overcame, the success they achieved and the hopes they have for the future was truly inspirational. We are so lucky to have had this opportunity and even more fortunate to have celebrated International Women’s Day together as a community.
There was an Art and writing competition for pupils to be creative about an inspirational woman in their lives and the winners were : -
First Prize – Netthira 9H
Second Prize – Larisha 7T
Third Prize – Cassie – Leigh 8E
