NO PENS DAY

Tuesday 25th November 2025

This year’s No Pens Day, held on 25 November, was another wonderful opportunity for students across the school to step away from their usual routines and take part in creative, discussion-based learning. The day encouraged pupils to communicate, collaborate and think independently, all while engaging in hands-on activities instead of written work.

Across the school, lessons were transformed into interactive experiences. Students debated ideas, acted out scenarios, solved practical challenges and shared their thoughts with confidence and enthusiasm.

The RE and Languages departments joined the day with a range of discussion-based and interactive activities designed to encourage speaking, listening, and teamwork. Pupils took part in thoughtful conversations and group tasks that helped them explore ideas without relying on written work.

In Geography, Year 10 took part in roleplay activity exploring the three stages of a hurricane: preparation, response, and recovery. Pupils threw themselves into their roles, bringing each stage to life with energy and creativity. The activity was both informative and enjoyable, giving students a memorable way to understand the complexity of natural disasters.

The English department embraced the spirit of No Pens Day with a fast-paced, quiz-style game linked to the novel students are currently studying. Teams selected categories, discussed answers and competed for points, creating a lively atmosphere filled with friendly competition. Pupils particularly enjoyed the chance to share ideas verbally and collaborate closely with their classmates.

Other subjects across the school also adapted their lessons to fit the theme, offering a wide range of activities that allowed students to experiment, problem-solve and express themselves without relying on written work. From creative challenges to practical tasks, the day showcased just how exciting and varied learning can be.

No Pens Day was once again a resounding success, with students fully engaged and enthusiastic throughout. It provided a valuable reminder that communication, teamwork, and creativity are at the heart of great learning.
