The Sacred Heart Language College

SACRED HEART DAY 2025

Friday 27th June

Our Sacred Heart Feast Day was celebrated on the 27th June. Traditionally, we celebrate our school Feast Day on the last Friday of June and this year it synchronised! We were fortunate that Father Sammarco celebrated Mass for us. Our faith in God’s love for us is at the heart of our community so God is at the centre of our celebration. We contemplated on God’s love for us through the Readings: Jesus says: “What man of you having a hundred sheep’ if he lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing”. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbours, saying to them, “Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost”. Each one of us is precious, known by God and just as Jesus rejoiced in finding the ‘lost sheep, we rejoice in the fulness of our Sacred Heart community.

The Awards and Rewards Ceremony followed the Liturgy; it is a time to reflect and reward the ‘excellent work’ and ‘attitude to work’ shown by our pupils. Each subject nominates one pupil for Attainment and one for Achievement (positive Attitude to Learning) for which they receive a Certificate and a voucher; some pupils are nominated for several subjects so they are presented with special awards, Trophies.

After the business part of the morning, we retired to the playground for ‘fun’: having enjoyed a barbeque provided by the school, we listened and joined in with plenty of noise to our talented school bands; after which each House sang their song, Regina won with ‘Dancing Queen’ A good day was had by all and we enjoyed an afternoon off!

“Confident in God’s love for us, we commit ourselves to His service”
