In June we welcomed Gareth Thomas, the Member of Parliament for Harrow West, into The Sacred Heart Language College for an assembly with Year 10 students. Gareth explained about his job in parliament and some of the challenges and privileges of holding his role as an MP. He explained about his career as a politician and explained how helping the people of Harrow inspired him to work in politics.

The students asked him many questions about democracy and how law-making works in Parliament. We finished the assembly by students sharing with Gareth some of the social issues in Harrow that we are concerned about and explained what we have done as a community through our First Give charity work to help raise an awareness of these issues.
