YEAR 11 - PITT RIVERS MUSEUM AND NATIONAL HISTORY MUSEUM TRIP

18th March 2025
Visiting the Pitt Rivers Museum and the Natural History Museum was an inspiring and eye-opening experience. Out of the two, my favourite was the Pitt Rivers Museum because of the sheer variety of artifacts and the way it showcased history from so many different cultures. I loved being able to explore different exhibits, each telling a unique story about human history, traditions, and craftsmanship. This trip gave me a lot of inspiration for my project, particularly in capturing an aged, historical feel. Seeing ancient manuscripts, intricate carvings, and artifacts from different time periods reinforced my interest in creating an artwork that looks like it belongs to history. I also found myself paying more attention to textures, materials, and how objects naturally age over time, which I want to reflect in my work.

My visit to the Pitt Rivers / Museum of Natural History was enjoyable as I was able to spend time with friends while working on my exam unit and coursework, I browsed through multiple exhibits, my favourite was the animal-based displays as they were very informative and interesting. Overall, I had a great time and found it relaxing and helpful.
