The Sacred Heart Language College

ACADEMY TRAINING DAY

Monday 15th April

The Call to action’

On Monday, 15th April the Blessed Holy Family Catholic Academy Trust welcomed all staff working across the Trust to reflect on what is distinctive about Catholic education and how we respond to the call of Catholic social teaching in our schools, whatever our roles may be.

The day started with a welcome from the CEO, Geraldine Higgins, who revisited the mission and values on which the Blessed Holy Family Trust is built.  The values of faithfulness, service, care and dignity underpin the work of all the family of schools that make up the Trust.

All the staff from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, St George’s Catholic Primary School, St John Fisher Catholic Primary School and The Sacred Heart Language College joined together to hear from Christine Allen, the Executive Director of the Catholic Association for Overseas Development (CAFOD).  Christine reflected on how good intentions and words need to be followed up with clear actions to make a difference to communities across the world who are suffering, whether due to climate change, acts of war or natural disasters.  This message resonated with all staff who were reminded of the need to put the individual at the heart of all our actions when dealing with young people.

The day concluded with over 400 staff moving to St Joseph’s Church where we celebrated mass asking for God’s blessing on our work within schools to support those most in need and to provide hope to all for the future.
