The Sacred Heart Language College

Book Week 2020

Monday 9th March - Thursday 12th March

Book week was held during the week of 9 - 12th March. On Monday, Giles Abbott a regular storyteller at the school delighted Year 7 with scary myths and legends from around the world. On Tuesday, Adisa the ‘Verbalizer’ entertained and involved Year 8 students with his poetry and stories. On Thursday, Year 9 had the opportunity to hear award winning Poet and rapper Rob Bradley talk about his journey to become a poet, reading some of  aloud and performing one on a piano. He then held workshops for the students encouraging them to express themselves through rhyme. He was very well received by all the students.

The Scholastic Book Fair on Wednesday encouraged girls from Years 7, 8 and 9 to buy books to read. The school earned £850 in commission through book sales. This money will be spent on books for the students to enjoy in the Study Centre. The week was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by all. A big thank you to all the girls who took part for their exemplary behaviour. All the visitors remarked on this and the enthusiasm of the girls.
