The Sacred Heart Language College

Question Time Assembly

'Question Time' Assembly on Tuesday 3rd March

On Tuesday morning 3rd March we had a ‘Question Time’ assembly for years 9 and 10. We were very pleased to welcome into school the candidates for the upcoming Harrow East election; Bob Blackman, who is the current MP and represents the Conservative party, Uma Kumaran, the Labour party candidate, Ross Barlow, the Liberal Democrat candidate and Rowan Langley who is the Green party candidate for Harrow West. Our four visitors were asked a range of searching political questions by pupils from years 9, 10 and 11. Anwulika Elliot, 11R, confidently chaired the discussion and Greta Mariani opened and closed the assembly.

It was an informative assembly, provoking lots of thought and discussion from the pupils who attended. It was also the first event in The Sacred Heart Language College Mock Election 2015. There will be many more events over the next few weeks that will help all pupils think about and engage with politics and develop their understanding of the National Election in May.                                                                                                                                   Miss Roberts
