The Sacred Heart Language College

Welcome Back September

Christ is at the heart of our community. At the beginning of the year we dedicate the year ahead to Christ by celebrating Holy Mass. We pray that we will continue to recognise our gifts and talents and use them for our good and the good of the community for the love of God. We welcomed Year 7 and their families on their first day of term and Years 8 to 11 on their first day. Prayers were said for the pupils, families and friends, staff and Governors and all those who support us in our endeavours. Thank you to Father Mario from the Salvatorian Fathers and for celebrating Mass for us. We are fortunate that Father Mario celebrates Mass for the community each Tuesday morning at eight o’clock. Every Form attends one Mass in the year for their intentions. The Year 7 Forms have been attending their Masses; attendance and participation have been exemplary. Each form was presented with a candle, blessed by Father Mario, by Miss Higgins to remind pupils that they are members of The Sacred Heart Community and the candle will light their way through their time here.

St Joseph’s Church organised a ‘Welcome Back to School Mass’ for the pupils of the Parish. Our school was represented by a group of pupils who participated in the Mass by reading, serving, and presenting the Offertory. Pupils were given the opportunity to write prayers which were included in the Offertory. This was the second year that the Mass was organised and it was very well received.

During September and October, the pupils have been engaging with the ‘Human Dignity’ aspect of Catholic Social Teaching during Pastoral Curriculum time. We are celebrating the Month of October, dedicated to the Holy Rosary. The Form Chaplains are leading a decade of the Rosary for peace with their Forms.

The Charities which will be promoting the Common Good this year are as follows: Mary’s Meals’;  Catholic Children’s Society; Just Give; CAFOD;. You will be kept updated and informed of any charity action on Parentpay.

Thank you and please pray for the Form Chaplains, Year 11 Eucharistic Ministers who assist at Tuesday morning Mass, the Prefects and all those who contribute so generously to our community.
