Careers Week
Throughout careers week all year groups were lucky enough to have past pupils present and share their journeys since leaving The Sacred Heart.
Dr Ciara Dwyer presented virtually from Sweden. Ciara spoke about the importance of females studying STEM subjects and going on to have careers in STEM. She shared her journey from studying A-levels to her Degree in Zoology, her Masters and most recently her PhD.
Angela Muruli presented virtually to pupils from Nigeria. Angela currently works for the UN on Gender Equality, specifically in relation to women’s political empowerment. She also shared some of her amazing career highlights so far, including giving a Ted Talk.
Jayshree Patel spoke to students about her current role as a Solicitor. She spoke about the hard work needed to reach her goals, and gave advice regarding how to make choices about subjects you want to study. Jayshree also shared her fear of public speaking, but despite this presented to over three hundred students, and spoke about how it is important to put yourself out of your comfort zone.
Careers week coincided with International Women’s Day, and it was truly inspirational to hear about the amazing success of our past pupils.
