Mission Week

As a school community we have just celebrated our Mission Week.

As a school community we have just celebrated our Mission Week.  This was a special time for us to reflect on God’s calling to each of us and what we mean when we say our school prayer:

“Confident in God’s love for us, we commit ourselves to His service”.

Throughout the week we were delighted to welcome visitors who were able to share their special work and call to service.   Our week commenced with Sr Rose Mary Harbinson and Sr Elizabeth Hartigan from our founding order, Our Lady of the Missions, leading whole school assembly and calling to each one of us to find our particular service in God’s name.  Year 8 were amazed by the inspirational work that was undertaken across the world to address social injustice and support those in need.

Our week culminated in a special Mass celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church which marked this year of Consecrated Life.  This was a wonderful opportunity for the four schools of our parish to come together to celebrate what unites us.  All of Year 7 joined with pupils from St. Teresa’s and St. Joseph’s Primary Schools and the boys of The Salvatorian College.  The service began with our choir processing into the church in song and the placing of our school crest on the altar.

The Mass was truly beautiful.  I would like to say a very sincere thank you to Sr Rose Mary Harbinson from the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions and Father Paul Harris from St. Joseph’s who were a real driving force behind the success of this special week in our school’s calendar.  We are inspired to live out the joy of the Gospel and respond to God’s call to service.
