The Sacred Heart Language College

Computer Science Coding Club

Coding club  for Years 7 and 8 after school   3:30 – 4:30 on Tuesdays in Room N25

Coding Club at TSHLC started with a full-house. Our first project was to use Scratch programming language which is a block-based visual programming language targeted primarily at children. Our students used scratch to create their project. The service is developed by the MIT Media Lab In their first project our budding coders learned how to code their own musical instruments!

It was a special treat and delight to watch some of our Year 10 GCSE Computer Science students; Corinne, Katie, Kerry and Princess coach the Year 7’s and 8’s through their first project.

Opportunities will arise to collaborate with other coders at school and hopefully make friends with a similar interest and there will certainly be opportunities to demonstrate what’s been learned.

Last but not least, biscuits were enjoyed by all who attended!
